Meet the Coach

Building on an already successful foundation, Bradley Schoch has further strengthened the Pirate sailing program, developing it into one of the most competitive high school sailing teams in the region.

A lifelong sailor, Schoch began his sailing career in Naples Sabots at Huntington Harbour Yacht Club in Southern California. He brings over 23 years of coaching and instructional experience across high school, college and yacht club levels. As a collegiate athlete, he sailed varsity for California State University (CSU) Monterey Bay while also competing on the varsity cross country team and playing club water polo. He pursued graduate studies at both CSU Monterey Bay and Harvard University.

Schoch holds a U.S. Sailing Level 3 Coach Certification and has served as Vice President of the Board for College Sailing in California. He remains active in the sport through local regattas and by supporting youth sailing programs at Stillwater Yacht Club and Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club. He also serves on the Monterey Peninsula Junior Sailing Advisory Board, the NorCal Board of the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association and the Bay Area Youth Sailing Board.

In addition to coaching, Schoch works for U.S. Sailing as a senior instructional designer in the education department, where he focuses on developing online learning programs and leading the organization’s transition into digital publications.

Team Awards: 2025 Golden Bear Regatta (statewide): Two 2nd place finishes, Silver Division; 2024 Sea Otter Regatta: Four 1st place finishes, Silver Division; 2024 NorCal 1 & 2 Regattas: One 1st place finish, Gold Division; 2024 NorCal 3 & 4 Regattas: One 3rd place finish; 2024 Anteater Regatta: Four 3rd place finishes, Silver Division; 2022 NorCal Divisional Championship Gold, 1st place; 2022-PCISA Silver PCCs (district champs), 2nd overall; 2019 NorCal 4 Gold & Silver, NorCal 3 Silver, Multiple 1sts in fleet divisions.

Collegiate Excellence: Graduates of the sailing program have gone on to compete at top collegiate sailing programs across the country, including Stanford, Dartmouth, Georgetown and the U.S. Naval Academy. Their success reflects not only their individual talent and drive, but the program’s emphasis on high-level competition, strategic training and leadership development. Stevenson sailors are consistently recognized for their preparedness, teamwork and ability to perform under pressure at the next level.
