Meet the Coach

Jerry Gilbert began coaching at Stevenson prior to the 2023 season and the Pirates have been on a steady improvement run ever since.

The team captured back-to-back PCAL Gabilan Division championships in 2024 and 2025.

Jerry Gilbert is the Head Girls Lacrosse Coach at Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, CA. He and his wife, Christina, who helps coach JV Girls Lacrosse at Stevenson, began spending significant time in the Carmel area in 2018 after raising daughters in Oregon who went on to play college lacrosse at a high level. Jerry coached more than a dozen years of girls youth sports, including lacrosse, basketball and soccer, as well as high school girls basketball, in Oregon. Helping prepare his own daughters to successfully compete at the DI level was a joy shared by the whole family.

Jerry started coaching at Stevenson prior to the 2023 season and the Pirates have been on a steady improvement run for the past few seasons, including back-to-back PCAL Gabilan Division championships in 2024 and 2025. In 2025, Stevenson was much more competitive against higher quality teams in the region but lost in the first round of CCS in both 2024 and 2025 against quality opponents.

Jerry and his assistant coaches believe strongly in a combination of skill development and people development—while maintaining accountability among the group. The notions of team and teamwork are sacred and to be respected. The value of teaching some life lessons through sport is always an opportunity, and the girls lacrosse leadership leans into it every day. Competitiveness, sportsmanship, friendship…these are the things we foster.

Jerry is also a principal of a business, Event Network, that is 25+ years old and has organically grown into a leader in its space (outsource retail for attractions and hospitality locations). He tries to bring real world lessons to the practice field every day. Parenting two girls (Lauren and Katy) for the past 27 years certainly provides the most practical applications. Athletically, Jerry played football at Dartmouth College in the late 80s/early 90s. Today, he enjoys life on the extraordinary Monterey Peninsula with Christina and their labradoodle puppy, Bo.

At Stevenson, Lacrosse thrives within an athletic department that champions multi-sport participation. Grounded in student wellness and performance research, we develop well-rounded players while fully supporting those pursuing collegiate opportunities and those who want the camaraderie and growth of being part of a team. Athletes have year-round access to turf and training spaces for optional stick work, shooting reps, small-sided play, film study, and strength/mobility. In season, practices are purposeful and coaching is individualized; out of season, training is flexible—designed to complement other team commitments so students can excel across multiple sports.
