Meet the Coach

Rosanna McCormick’s coaching philosophy is grounded in student-first values, with a strong emphasis on academic achievement, personal growth and well-being.

She views field hockey as a platform for developing life-long skills such as accountability, leadership, resilience and time management. Known for her commitment to excellence both on and off the field, Rosanna has received numerous accolades throughout her career.

Rosanna McCormick is a passionate and experienced field hockey coach entering her 20th year coaching at the high school and club levels. A proud Monterey native, Rosanna began her coaching and teaching career at Monterey High School before joining Stevenson School in 2022 as both an English teacher and head coach for the field hockey program. She is a Level 1 and Level 2 USA Field Hockey-certified coach and has completed Level 1 USA Field Hockey umpire training.

Rosanna has received numerous accolades throughout her career. Her honors include being named the 2014 Monterey Bay League Coach of the Year, leading the Toreadores to two Pacific Coast Athletic League (PCAL) Mission Division Championships, and earning prestigious recognition as the 2023 CCS Honor Coach for Field Hockey and the 2023 NFHS CIF Coach of the Year. She has also been celebrated in the classroom, receiving the Best of Monterey County K–12 Teacher award in both 2018 and 2019.

Under Rosanna’s leadership, the Stevenson field hockey program has seen remarkable growth and achievement. Since Rosanna has taken the helm, the Pirate field hockey team has earned three consecutive postseason CCS tournament appearances. In the 2024 season, the Pirates finished second in PCAL with a 7–1 league record and 11 players named to the NFHCAl National Academic Squad. The 2025 season marked a historic milestone as the team went undefeated in league play for the first time in school history, capturing their first league title since 2017, with 16 players honored on the NFHCA National Academic Squad.

Rosanna views field hockey as a platform for developing life-long skills such as accountability, leadership, resilience and time management. Just as she sees herself as a teacher first and coach second, she encourages her student-athletes to see themselves as students first and athletes second. Rosanna is deeply committed to developing not only competitive and skilled athletes, but also confident, adaptable and responsible individuals prepared to thrive beyond high school.
