At Stevenson, baseball is about more than just the game – it’s about building character, teamwork and lasting confidence.

With a tradition of strong league play and consistent postseason appearances, our program offers student-athletes the chance to grow both on and off the field. It’s one of the premier baseball experiences on the Monterey Peninsula, where passion, performance and personal growth all come together.

Meet the Coach

Coach Nick Wilcox brings passion and purpose to the field every day, taking pride in the positive impact he has on his players, both as athletes and as individuals.

He has built a winning culture centered on accountability, discipline and fun – emphasizing fundamentals, maximum effort, respect, sportsmanship and how to handle adversity.

Coach Wilcox’s program has developed numerous collegiate players, with three going on to play professionally. His ability to mentor and inspire athletes extends beyond the diamond, earning him respect across the school and broader baseball community.

Nick Wilcox joined Stevenson in 2006 as an assistant coach, focusing on pitcher development. In his very first season, he helped guide the team back to the playoffs for the first time in eight years, setting the stage for a remarkable run. Over the next eight seasons, Stevenson earned seven playoff berths.

In 2014, Nick took over as head coach and quickly made an impact, leading the team to the CCS semifinals and earning MTAL Coach of the Year honors.

Under his leadership, Stevenson has reached new heights:

  • PCAL Champions – 2022, 2025
  • CCS Champions – 2023, 2025
  • NorCal Regional Semifinalists – 2023
  • NorCal Regional Runner-Up – 2025

A decorated player himself, Nick was a standout in high school, earning:

  • 2× All-State Small School Pitcher
  • 2× All-County Pitcher
  • All-County Player of the Year
  • Second Team All-American (1997)
  • Selection to the Junior Olympic Team

He played three years at St. Mary’s College, where he was a 2× WCC Pitcher of the Week, before transferring to Sonoma State. Post-college, he played three seasons with the Salinas Packers semi-pro team, earning 2× All-Star honors and First Team All-Western Region Pitcher.

Training Advantage

At Stevenson, Baseball exists within an athletic department that champions multi-sport participation. Guided by evidence that multi-sport athletes excel and stay healthier, we develop well-rounded players while fully supporting those pursuing high-level, college opportunities. Athletes have year-round access to sport-specific facilities for optional skill work and strength training. In season, practices are structured and coaching is individualized; out of season, opportunities are intentionally flexible—designed to complement other team commitments so students can thrive across multiple sports.
